Parasites

A parasite is an organism which lives off of another organism. For example, a worm that lives inside or on the skin of an animal is a parasite. Often incorrectly referred to as a Disease.

Types of parasites found in Aquariums:

• Protozoa - Freshwater Ich, Ick, White Spot, Costiasis

• Velvet, Rust, Gold dust, Oodinium

• Gill flukes

• Skin flukes

• Hexamita, Spironucleus

• Tapeworm (Camallanus cotti)

• Fish Nematodes - Camallanus
