Origin

Sexing

Males have “dummy yellow egg spots” on their anal fins, these are absent on the female.
Venting on adult fish is the most accurate and sure determination though. Females will have an O as where males tend to have a more V shaped vent.

Diet

Algae which is scraped off of rocks using specialized teeth. In captivity they can be feed spirulina pellets, flakes, and a fairly wide variety of veggies. Excessive protein should be avoided, especially meats/fish etc, as it can lead to bloat, the number one killer of many Malawi Cichlids such as the Fuelleborni.
