Origin

A North American species of Sturgeon found in the bottom of main channels and embayments of large turbid rivers; frequently in flowing water over sand and mixed with gravel and mud.

A large bottom dweller that should not be kept with small companions as they are likely to be eaten.

Diet

They feed on the bottom, so you should give them special sturgeon diets or large pellets meant for large predatory fish.

These fish grow too large for an aquarium and are strictly pond fish. They should not be considered for a pond anything less than 3785 Litres (1000 US G.), over 7571 Litres (2000 US G.) is better.
