Talk:KH

From The Aquarium Wiki
Jump to: navigation, search

The following is not true:

"Because KH makes up part of the GH value, you can’t have a KH higher than your GH level"

There are some areas where the water contains more sodium bicarbonate and/or potassium bicarbonate than total calcium and magnesium. In these areas, the KH is naturally higher than the GH. Also, water softeners will exchange sodium or potassium for calcium and magnesium. Therefore, people w ho use them will usually have a KH that is higher than the GH.

So why not edit the page with this information?

--Quatermass 05:24, 14 September 2007 (CDT)

Well, I'm not really sure how it all works. Just anyone can edit it?

Sure. But I'd prefer you set up an account as that way you'd get credit for the work, you'll be notified by email if your favourite article gets altered and we get to know who you are?

You can start small, maybe correct a spelling error or two then as you get used to a Wiki system try larger things. I was a complete novice at this only a year ago. Didn't take me long to pick up how it works and there are people here you can ask.

If you did cock up a page don't worry. Someone will always come along and reverse any mistakes. You can't delete anything permanently on a Wiki system.

Have fun! :-)

If you have any questions you can direct them to either myself or Quatermass by editing our talk pages (Quatermass|PsiPro). We have a very very basic and underdeveloped help system here if your looking to learn how to hardcore edit, I would look at the real Wikipedia's help section found here [1]. Quatermassand I check every edit from every new user and Anon. users (Catxx probably dose as well) if we find a problem or a style issue we will simply correct them and inform you to help you learn.

As Quatermass said, if you do manage to do some serious damage to a page (which is highly unlikely) we will come along with the mop and hit the rollback button to undo the changes. Welcome to The Aquarium Wiki :) --Brian 18:53, 23 September 2007 (CDT)

I've done it!

I've edited the page. How did I do?

--Fishnut 15:11, 26 November 2007 (CST)

Very good. I've made a few of the words hyperlinked to other articles, but that's all.
However you forgot to add your signature to the above posting so people can't see at a glance who said the words. When you're editing a discussion page, click on the 2nd from the right blue icon so it inserts your username and date. Why not try editing this page and add your signature to your above statement as a wee exercise? :-)

Nah you messed that up Fishnut! :-) Did you click on the + icon and not the Edit icon by mistake?

--Quatermass 15:02, 26 November 2007 (CST)

Cool - That's it. --Quatermass 15:12, 26 November 2007 (CST)

Is this better?

--Fishnut 15:12, 26 November 2007 (CST)

Certainly is... :-)

--Quatermass 15:13, 26 November 2007 (CST)

Thanks for the help and suggestions. :-) --Fishnut 15:15, 26 November 2007 (CST)
