Cat, most of the page I have seen refer to this as only getting to be 5" long. Where did you get the 7" figure? --Brian 23:52, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

Fishbase has it listed at 20cm (7.9"). That's usually the official length. --Quatermass 08:39, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

I would imagine the 7" length is for wild fish, as with many fish, I would imagine captive ones stay more like 5". --Cat 12:41, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Ah I didn't look at fishbase, just looked at the sites I got other information from. --Brian 13:37, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

It's an authoritative site based on the original taxonomy I suppose.

Another source is the fish standards book used by Fish clubs to judge fish. If you can find a free source. My local club charges money for it.

I presume we're talking about SL (standard length) here and not TL (Total length)? --Quatermass 17:43, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

That's a good question, weather or not the tail is included can make the difference. --Brian 18:29, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

In the fish keeping and biology world SL is always used as finnage is so variable. --Quatermass 15:59, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
