Isn't the picture a Thoracocharax stellatus, the "spotfin hatchet"?
Wrong Photo?[edit]
Hmm after comparing the two species on Fishbase, it indeed looks more like Thoracocharax stellatus judging by the anal region.
Do you wish to change the photo Zeppelin? --Quatermass 16:45, 29 December 2011 (CST)
- I agree, but it also looks just like every other Silver Hatchetfish I have seen in the store :). The caudal region looks longer on the Gasteropelecus sternicla, then on Thoracocharax stellatus. The Caudal fin is also sharper. I would say the picture more closely resembles Thoracocharax stellatus, but I also wouldn't be supervised if somebody more familiar with the fish told us we are wrong :) --Brian 06:51, 30 December 2011 (CST)
